National Trust Conservation Appeals

Introduction

The National Trust of Australia (NSW) is a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR), and its Conservation Appeals are often set up to be DGRs.

The Trust administers these conservation appeals to support the preservation of historically significant sites, including churches. These appeals often involve the restoration of the building’s interior or exterior, as well as the preservation of fixtures, fittings, and other associated items.

Donations made to conservation appeals are tax-deductible, and the Trust provides receipts to donors for tax purposes.

Conservation Appeal Applications

Contact the National Trust (NSW) Advocacy team to express your interest in nominating your church property by email. They can provide detailed information on the nomination process and the necessary forms. Visit the National Trust NSW Restoration Appeals page to learn more.

Following submission, your nomination will be assessed by the National Trust’s technical staff and specialist committees, which may include architects, historians, archaeologists, and other heritage professionals. The assessment will consider the historical, architectural, social, and cultural significance of the church against established heritage criteria.
